The unknown bride…

So for the most part when I work with brides we develop a relationship on some level. Meeting with someone over the period of a few months to a year plus speaking on the phone and via email about their wedding design does that. You become vested because you get to know them, see their excitement, their dress and its a very satisfying and sometimes exhausting experience. But what I want to really talk about is the unknown bride. In this age of technology and information that is available with the click of a mouse you can pretty much purchase anything you want…even wedding flowers!

I have had the privilege & challenge of creating a few such weddings. Brides who were born & raised in Canada for example and then moved abroad to work met someone while there and came back to get married. Everything in this case is done over the internet and most communication is done via email. There is mind you still a relationship that gets built, obviously you are putting a lot of trust in someone you have never met for a very important aspect of this huge life event. What is so interesting is the fact that often in these cases never even lay eyes on the bride until much later when they send me some photos. It is remarkable to most when they learn this yet also amazing that it is at all possible. To be thousands or hundreds of miles away and plan something with just a computer is something that would not have been impossible just a few years ago.

A few weeks ago I did just this, I received an email from a very nice woman from Rhode Island getting married here in Toronto and needed some wedding flowers. With just a brief description and a quick look at my portfolio she booked my services. Well with some creative freedom & a tiny bit of direction it turned out to be one of the most beautiful weddings I have had the pleasure of seeing. I never actually met Kimberly but I feel like I know her and she sent me the most wonderful thank you message with a few pics of her day which I am sharing with you.

Its funny that such a connection can still be made in this day and age, you just have to have a little faith!
