It is easy to be green...and beautiful too!

Let’s face it the environment is an important issue. It’s taken into consideration in our everydayazalealives and so why should special occasions be any different? The increase of clients I’ve seen expressing a desire to consider green options for their events has skyrocketed over the last few years. There are many beautiful and viable options for making your big day easy on you and the environment at the same time!

Consider separate pots each with a different herb nicely labelled so each guest can take one home. What a lovely thought that something from your wedding will be planted and grow in someone’s garden to be enjoyed for years to come!

The wedding bouquet is a different story. Obviously if you have your heart set on something exotic or out of season that’s the choice you have to make. If being green is important to you consider asking your florist for locally grown flowers, farmer’s markets or even organically grown florals if you can’t get something from your own hometown. Even incorporating a few eco options in your bouquet can make a difference. What about  simple bouquet of seasonal lavender? Then tie it will a beautiful ribbon upside down to enjoy afterward. Boutonnieres made from rosemary or sage? Why not? So simple and natural, dry them when your day is over and re use them in a home cooked meal!blogimport_buuskq-159ers2

When it comes to the ceremony something a little more grand is often used for decor. Focal pieces for the alter are a huge design element..why not purchase potted trees to decorate and then donate them to be planted in a local park? Fallen branches in large planters with hanging votives would be a gorgeous rustic touch. Pops of colour can be added with flowering plants placed on tables or around the venue such as azaleas or black eye susan.

The bottom line is you don’t have to sacrifice the design of your event to be eco-friendly…you can have both!
